LegallyClear Installation Instructions

LegallyClear is an encoded file that provides you with a variety of legal forms - you purchase them as you need them, and enter an unlock code to show them on your site.

An Important Note: The LegallyClear Product does not have any adware or spyware - the program includes security solely to prevent the theft of the intellectual property (the legal forms), and does not communicate or otherwise report to anyone or other sites - whatsoever.

The Necessary Files

The file to upload the legal forms onto your site is included in the product.zip - download here (about 950k) Note: You can use a program like Winzip to unzip the files to your local hard drive.

Once downloaded and unzipped to your local hard drive, you will get all the related files:
  • lc.exe - The 'easy' or 'automatic' installer.
  • legallyclear.pdf - The guide - requires the free Adobe Acrobat program to read, which you can get from their site.
  • legally - The directory with all the program files.
The package give you two ways to install - the 'Automatic' program way, or the 'Manual' (ie, do your own FTP and install) version - as follows.

'Manual Installation' (Advanced)

Note - the lc.exe program (explained below) is the easier way to install - however, if you wish, the /legally/ directory in this package includes the whole package ready to upload to your site. It requires more knowledge of your website, but is explained in the guide for those that prefer this method.

'Automatic' Installation with lc.exe

The lc.exe program in the package includes a FTP program, and Ioncube installer (Ioncube is used for security to protect the legal forms and program code).

1 - To use, run it:

2- And click 'next' until you see this page:

The Installation Notes file includes extra installation information, and can be worthwhile reviewing as you do your first install.

From there, click on the Next button to get the next panel:

3. The install requires your FTP information: 1 Server name (usually your domain name), 2 FTP port (usually 21), 3 Your FTP Username and 4 Your FTP Password.

From there, you'll use the 5 'Browse' button and select where the files go, then 6 click the Next button to continue.

4. When selecting files (the Browse button from the previous step) you will get a display of your website from the FTP program. Make sure you select a top directory. In this example, the root of the website is called 'httpdocs', but it might be 'html_docs', or something else. In some cases, the top list shown is already the root of the site, so no selection is necessary (the root of the site is where the main page is located, usually index.htm, index.html, or index.php).

5. Once you're ready, the program will confirm the root URL for your page - usually you don't need to change anything here, but it should point to the root URL of your site.

6. Click Next to continue, and view the final confirmation page before the install - click the Install button to begin:

7. The install will take a minute or two, and then on success you'll get a final loader page:

8. Following this, you will have the main login page open in your browser. Login using admin and 1962 as the Login Username and Password, respectively. NOTE: You should change the password from the default as soon as possible after logging in.

9. Once logged in, the menu options take care of all the features you need, including editing and displaying the forms, ordering more forms, and editing settings like the password. Finally, bookmark page.php so you can return to it.

Consult the manual for more details on operating this package.

Troubleshooting

One problem on some servers is a failure in the installation:

Although this may be a real install issue related to very restrictive server security, it is more often a directory permissions issue that is not really a problem.

In this case, go to the main web page for your project (replacing with your domain name):

http://EGWEBSITE.COM/legally/page.php

If you can see the login page above, your install WAS successful, despite the error message (this is an Ioncube issue they are currently working on).
